Along with the yummy peaches we got at the orchard on Sunday, we also brought home some fresh blackberries to make jam. I've made peach and strawberry jam before, so I decided to give blackberry a try. Jam is probably the easiest and most rewarding thing I've ever made! It seems like it would be super complicated, but it couldn't be easier.
Blackberry Jam // Recipe from Bobby Flay
4 cups of blackberries
1/2 cup superfine sugar
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1. Put the blackberries in a food processor and pulse until chopped.
2. Pour the mixture into a skillet. Mix in the sugar and lemon juice.
3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. When the mixture begins to bubble slightly, set your timer to cook the jam for about 10 minutes, or until it begins to thicken.
4. Transfer to a container and let it come to room temperature.
Easy right? I decided to make a little video of the jam-tastic fun too. Haha. It's been awhile since my last iPhone video. I love making these things. Hopefully I will have time to film a few more with the 8mm app over the summer. I hope you like it!
Next on the list of jams to make...blueberry! Have you ever made jam before? What is your favorite flavor?
The new knit tutorial I had planned is coming early next week. A few cloudy days got in the way of the picture-taking process. I hope you have a happy Friday and a great weekend! Maybe you could give this jam recipe a try for breakfast. :)

Such a wonderful video! It brightened my morning! I've never made jam before but I received all of the supplies for canning as a gift a couple of years ago. They are a bit dust covered now but I do have the best intentions for them! Maybe this year... P.S. My favorite jam is Ginger-Rhubarb...mmmm.....

ReplyDeleteHi Meredith, congrats on your recent graduation. I discovered your delightful blog from Heather's recent post at Vintage Grey. This afternoon I made shortbread with jam centers and in my post I mentioned your jam making how-to (though I did not make my own jam but I will soon). Have a wonderful weekend. Tammy

Love that video!
ReplyDeleteWe make jam every year. So far I've made strawberry, blackberrie, elderberrie, cherrie and plum. I must say my favorite is the plumjam. Homemade jams are the best ever, you just can't buy flavor like that in a shop.
ReplyDeleteThis is SO weird that you would post about jam on the day that I would download instructions on how to make jam, haha, must be fate!! x
ReplyDeleteI would very much like to attempt to make jam.. however, I think all the sugar might put me off actually eating it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet video- and a great song (You've Got Mail soundtrack...!)
ReplyDeleteThe video is very cool!!!

ReplyDeleteI just discovered your blog and it has already become a favourite! All the posts I've read so far (I just got to the jam one a minute ago) has had me smiling and itching to comment, but I just couldn't stop reading! When I saw that you like to make jam as well, I just couldn't keep quiet anymore. I swear we have so many things in common it is a bit scary.
ReplyDeleteI've added you to my bookmarks already and am so excited to read more. Thank you!
