Weekend Plans 6/8 - 6/9

I think I am finally getting back into a routine after coming home from vacation. It took me a few days to fully wake up from the dream that was London and Paris and then a few days after that to tackle my long to-do list. I still have a few vacation photos to share from Paris! I've also been feeling a bit off lately...I don't really know how to describe it. I mean, I graduated and immediately left for vacation without a moment to think about what just happened. College. Finished. Over. Ok...now what? I know I will find my place eventually but for now you could say I'm suffering a little post-grad depression. I never thought those words would come out of my mouth! I am so happy to be done with college but I'm feeling a bit lost. Finding a new path isn't easy.

To take my mind off the lost feelings this week I have been knitting all of the things I dreamed up this semester but didn't have time to actually make. Well, homework no more! Haha. I need to remember the positives like that, take a few breaths, and enjoy the summer. That is exactly what I plan to do this weekend!

1. I saw this hair chalking tutorial on A Cup of Jo this week and knew I had to try it. Lately I've been missing my blue tips so I'm excited to see how this less permanent option works. Have any of you given this a try yet?
2. Tomorrow is International Yarn Bombing day! I love that it has an official day. So cool. I am going to the farmer's market tomorrow so I thought I would leave behind something "fresh". ;-)
3. A warm weather outfit for walking around the market.
4. On my shopping list for tomorrow is definitely some fresh peaches so I can bake this amazing peach cake. My mom and I made it once before and it was delicious. Mmm. We might need to pick up some vanilla ice cream too!

Another crafty and colorful weekend lies ahead and I can't wait to enjoy it. :)

What are you up to this weekend?

  4. Meredith, I know exactly how you feel and it is completely natural and normal. Graduation is a very bitter sweet time in life. I graduated May 2011 and quickly left to spend 3 weeks in Italy and France. When I came home I felt the same way, I had to start looking for a job and it was very confusing and trying. The confidence you have in school, by your senior year, is gone and you feel lost, misplace, and ignorant. At least I did. A year later I still sometimes dream of college and wish I could go back but I am finally getting that confidence back and enjoying my new place in the world. I know this will happen to you as well. Wishing you the best in your new life! Xoxo

  7. I still get that unsure feeling about finishing University and being out in the real world and I graduated last year. Sometimes you get so overwhelmed by Uni work that you forget about what comes after. I am still not 100% sure what I want to do or what I want to be when I grow up...hehe!

I love the sound of the peach cake. I have been bitten by the baking bug recently and am constantly looking for new things to try so this might be next on my list :)

  9. I love the colors this week, they're so vibrant! I just graduated from college, too, and I'm also experiencing the post-grad slump. On one hand it's stressful, because the whole job-search process is a lot to do, but it also feels sluggish because I'm no longer in my usual school routines, especially moving home from Manhattan to my tiny hometown. Al of that to say I think what we're both going through is totally normal, even if it isn't fun!

  15. I graduated college a year ago and am still experiencing the post-college depression! I keep thinking the feeling will fade away, but I think it's getting worse ;) college was truly the best time of my life!

I am a HUGE fan of hair chalking and do it very often! Before I did it the first time, I did some research, and lots of people said don't do it, it will damage your hair! I do it all the time and my hair is in the same condition it was before. The only thing is it does rub off on clothes and furniture easily, so wear like-colored clothing or black clothing. The Beauty Department has a great tutorial and tons of info: http://thebeautydepartment.com/2012/01/chalk-it-up/

    Love your blog :)

  17. I hope you find your new path soon! Enjoy your summer! I have actually tried the hair chalk thing and it made my hair feel disgusting and I couldn't like comb through it to make it look nice so I just washed it out, which was also hard because it was pastels.

  20. Your weekend plans posts are my absolute favorite. So creative! You're just too cute. Also, I dealt with a little post-college depression. Not so much because I missed school, but because I just didn't know what to do and everything felt unfamiliar. It gets better though, I promise!
