Happy Mail

When I'm feeling blue there is nothing like going to the mailbox to discover...
The Black Apple print I ordered as a little happy gift for myself. I love everything about this print, especially the polka dot peter pan collar. I can't wait to have a special place to display Miss Pansy.
A letter from my friend Sarah who is working in Boston for the summer. She is coming to Dallas for our friends wedding in a few weeks, which happens to be the same weekend as my birthday! Yay! I can't wait to see her. I always feel blessed to have such a great friend when I read her sweet words.
These postcards weren't in the mail today but they will be soon when I send them out to friends and family for them to discover in their own mailboxes. All of the Paris vs. New York pictures are so cute though...I might have to keep a few for myself.

It has been a busy and productive day filled with lots of writing, snapping pictures, and knitting. I think I will take a break soon because I have a big, pounding headache due to a mixture of stress and sinuses. I think the best cure is an evening of knitting and watching Michael Phelps swim for gold. Yup. That should work. ;)

I hope you are enjoying your weekend! Have you received anything special in the mail lately?

  3. I adore Emily Martin's art! The Black Apple is probably my most favorite Etsy shop ever. :) I have a few of her prints. I think my favorite of her Flower Girls series is Geum. So lovely!

I haven't gotten any good mail lately, though next week I should get a vintage-style apron pattern I ordered. :)

  5. That print is so sweet! And how nice of your friend! She's a keeper for sure. Getting mail always makes my day. :) I also really love sending letters and notes. It's a simple gesture to brighten someone's day. Sometimes I'll even send my husband postcards, even though we live together. It's just more special than hand-delivering. ;)

  6. Oh, the joys of 'snail' mail. The print is darling. I love her rosy cheeks. What a wonderful gift to yourself!

I really want to get in the habit of sending real mail to friends and family more often. It just seems more thoughtful than e-mails and adds a personal touch.

    1. I love the fact that letters are handwritten. It's like you can see a little bit of the writer's personality through their handwriting. :)

  8. I love to get handwritten letters in the mail, especially when the writer has added their own personal touch through the stationery they have chosen.

  13. That's a beautiful print. I love that little face, so darling! I always wrote lots and lots of letters to penpals when I was younger. Somehow I stopped doing that, I don't know why. You made me realize I miss writing (and receiving) letters. There is nothing like receiving letters in the mailbox. Like getting a present every time again!

  14. I spent a lot of this summer treating myself to many packages. I love getting stuff in the mail. I have wanted this particular print by Emily for awhile and this post sealed the deal. I just went and bought it! I look forward to finding my treat soon too. ;) I write snail mail once a month to my friends and loved ones, only rarely do I get one back. Nothing but junk mail does get discouraging. I love writing the letters though and it is a great excuse to my excessive stationary buying. (sigh)

    Thanks for sharing!

  18. I love the print and the Black Apple etsy shop! Just ordered a couple prints from there myself! As for mail...I've received a couple books I recently ordered, but not much else. I have been writing letters to family and friends and have enjoyed that immensely. Hope you have a beautiful rest of the weekend and a fabulous week!
