My Little Workspace

Art sources (from left to right) - Oana Befort - The Black Apple - Weather and Noise - Ello Lovey - The Black Apple - Vintage

I like to think that even the smallest spaces can hold the biggest dreams. At least, I hope that is true in my case. Using a mishmash of furniture, art, and organizational supplies that were not getting much use, I finally pieced together a tiny corner where I can work and hopefully bring a few dreams into reality. I wouldn't exactly call it a studio. This space simply consists of a desk and a bookcase. However, I finally have a place to organize and display my cameras, knitting and crochet books, and craft magazines.  I waited far too long to create this little space, hang up my prints, and fully acknowledge the work I put into this blog. Now that I have a temporary workspace, I can't wait to see what comes together in this little corner.

I am excited to work on more freelance opportunities, adding patterns and other new things to my shop, and a few other very exciting projects in the coming months! If you need me, you will find me here, my head buried in a mass of yarn or my fingers quickly typing across the keys. This new space, no matter how small, is already inspiring me to work harder and dream bigger.

Do you have a workspace for your craft or blog? I would love to see photos of your space if you blogged about it recently!

  1. This is a fantastic work space and I am a bit jealous of it, regardless how small. I'm working to carve my own space out of a corner as well and this is definitely inspiring. I found lots of inspiration from this (http://www.howjoyful.com/2011/03/lovely-spaces-craft-room/) as well. I love the first and second spaces, and have always wanted to set myself up in a closet like that so the doors could be shut on the mess that will inevitably occur when knee deep in projects. :)

  6. So pretty! You're right to create a dedicated space for your work and to acknowledge how much of you goes into your blog and related opportunities that come up. I share my blogging desk with my sewing table, which I've recently moved to the window in order to make the most of the light - essentially moving my sewing/blogging work to centre stage in the sitting room. Which it deserves!

  8. Oh how I wish I had a workspace! I have a laptop on my lap, some bags down the side of my sofa, and things precariously balanced on the arm of said sofa which usually end up on the floor.

Your space, however small, looks lovely & very inspiring! I'm sure you'll get plenty of motivation out of it, love your hooks and needles in jars :) x

  14. It has to be true that the smallest spaces can hold the biggest dreams, otherwise I am in big trouble! Ha, anyway, I love the cats pajamas print, my grandmother used to always say that and now it is a joke in my family. everything is the cats pajamas. anyway, groovy post. dream major.

  15. Your space is much more organized than mine. My spot looks like a yarn shop had a party across the desk and book shelves. I think it might be time to tidy it again.

  26. It's so clean! Do you have trouble keeping it that way? I'm pretty neat generally but my knitting tends to morph and grow into this tangled, terrifying mess-creature.

    1. I had to do a lot of cleaning and reorganizing for my desk to look this nice! Hopefully it will stay that way for a few weeks, but I'm sure papers and yarn will take over soon. ;)

  28. Wow! That space just inspired me to revamp my own; so cute! I need a few art prints to add some color pops and I love the cute knitting prints that you share from time to time but my primary craft is embroidery and I have had zero luck finding cute embroidery prints (that aren't actually embroidered). Thanks for the inspiration!

  31. This workspace is beautiful!

I have a much smaller space, but have been in need of a creative corner my whole life. This is the one I just recently pieced together in my room (2nd picture down):

    http://sunnydenouement.blogspot.com/2012/11/brownie-heaven.html

It is different to have all my stuff out where I can daily see it as oppose to crammed in my closet where I am always looking for missing tubes of paint. Do you find yourself more inspired by having a designated space as well?

I'm dreaming of enough space for my creative supplies. I also have a little corner, but it's way too small for all my stuff. ;)
