What's in My Yarn Bag?

At the end of last year, I really enjoyed sharing different photos and interviews for my "What's in my yarn bag?" series. I love getting a sneak peek inside of other yarn crafters yarn bags! I will have new interviews starting again next month but I thought I would start the year off by sharing an updated look inside my own yarn bag. You know, while it is relatively clean and gum wrapper free. ;)
When I carry my knitting with me, my yarn bag acts as my purse so I keep standard things like my wallet, keys, and gum tucked inside. Everything else is what I like to have nearby while yarn crafting or dreaming up new ideas. Here is what I usually carry with me:

- My bag - This bag from Jordana Paige is so great! I love all of the pockets and that it looks just like a regular purse.
- Yarn, needles, and hooks - That is the second sleeve from my never-ending sweater project. Maybe one day I will finally wear it...maybe. Haha.
- Planner - This is where I keep track of upcoming project due dates, blog posts, and my to-do list.
- iPad - I keep my iPad handy for reading craft magazines and finding inspiration on Pinterest.
- iPhone
- Notebook - This notebook is for sketching designs and writing down ideas.
- Pens - I always lose my pens so I've learned that if I want to be able to write something down, I need to keep three or more in my bag at one time just in case.
- Lotion, lip balm, etc.
- Accessories bag - This is where I store my scissors, stitch markers, stitch counter, extra crochet hooks, and other small items.

If only there was a little extra room in this bag for my camera! However, it would probably be way too heavy if I tried to turn this into a yarn/camera bag.

What do you usually keep in your yarn bag? When do you like to carry it?

I hope you have a great last day of January! :)

  1. This is lovely :) I am doing a series on my blog, looking into people's wool stash and favourite yarns/tools. It would be great to have you involved if you have the time :) let me know!

  2. I really like your bag. My project bag has little Japanese squirrels (who inexplicably speak French). I bought it on a day when I was feeling really awful, and while it's to twee for a purse, it's too cute to give away, so I use it for my craft bag.

  3. Oh, you are organised! I'm a bit ashamed to admit that I have a few fabric shopperbags with WIPs in, and a few baskets, and then there are two large picnic baskets hidden underneath a bed...and a plastic set of drawers with the official yarn collection...

  6. It is a bit funny to find this post in my inbox today. I've just been thinking about writing a "what's in my notion's bag" post. It looks like it's a popular post idea.
I love your bag by the way. I have a super nice leather one that I found at an estate sale this fall. Some of the seams need to be restitched before I can start using it.
    Thanks for sharing

  7. I'm still rooting for you to finish that sweater. Although I completely understand a case of Second Sleeve Syndrome. It's quite close to the more common Second Sock Syndrome.

    1. This bag actually has an inside pocket where you can keep the yarn separate from everything else. I love it!

  13. I have a big black vinyl beach bag with one long pocket across the front. This way I can have lots of projects or all the yarn for one project in one place until its finished. I have a coin purse that has my scissors, yarn needles, and stitch markers in it, and I keep that coin purse in a longer bright pink toiletries case that is just long enough for all my standard crochet hooks and the coin purse. I keep a tape measure and a Susan bates swatch gauge and needle sizer in the pocket. I have a separate fossil bag for a purse and a separate target purse for my work gear. I love bags, but sometimes I wish I didn't need so much stuff!

  18. A good clean bag is always the best while it lasts! ;)

I've always got the essentials, some bright lipstick, and an easy on-the-go crochet project just in case I can get a few stitches in. I can't wait to see more of this series when it starts back up again!
